NCS Product Synopsis
Update: December 28, 2007
«©NCSX» Instead of heading for Vegas or Macau for some high stakes casino action, why don't you sit yourself in your living room and pop in a Wii Remote-waving casino game? That way, you'll save yourself about $5000 in lost ducats and avoid a long flight where the movie as well as the food are insufferable.

Ason de Wakaru from D3 Publisher features "realistic" casino action where the Wii Remote is shaken to simulate the throwing of the die, placing bets on the roulette wheel, and other manual gambling actions. The games of chance featured in Ason de Wakaru are as follows:

Roulette / Pick red, black, even, or odd in a bid for winnings
Baccarat / The well-heeled casino game with the lowest house edge
Blackjack / Two cards are dealt; more may be secured for a total of 21
Poker / Create winning hands from a lot of five cards

... and derivations thereof. In addition to the normal game modes, variations are also playable for up to four players. A Wi-Fi opposition mode is also available so an online group of cardsharks may engage each other.

NCS Game Notes
» At the outset, only Roulette, Texas Hold'em and Black Jack are selectable gaming options at the casino.

» At the roulette table, move the Wii Remote around to place your bet on odd, even, black, white, a range of numbers, or on a single number if you're feeling lucky. If you bet on red or even and it hits "6-red," you win 100G. If you bet on a single number and the ball lands on the appointed number, you win 700G. To place a bet, move the Wii Remote to your choice and then press the "A" button. Next, move the d-pad to the right to place a minimum bet of 100G. Press "A" again to submit the wager and you're off to the races.

» Every wager in roulette is allowed 1 minute for everyone to place their bets. If you're impatient and want the wheel to spin immediately, simply click on the "SPIN" button on the lower-right side of the screen. You can place as many wagers as your bankroll will cover per round. After a number of throws, a ceremony animation plays which shows the leaderboard and top players.

» Roulette may be fixed. We placed 100G bets on red, even, and "19-to-36" in two consecutive plays and in both times, the ball landed on "00" to our chagrin. What are the odds?

» Black Jack - The maximum bet is 100G and there are five players at any time - you, three COM players and the dealer. The game goes for 5 rounds and another ceremony plays after the game is over.

» Texas Hold'em - A variant of Poker where every player is dealt two cards and five cards are shown in the center of the screen.

» There are Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of play for each casino game. Only Bronze is playable at the outset of the game. The stakes grow higher in the next levels of play.

» After playing all three games and winning some rounds, Baccarrat opens up as a playable option. The other game we unlocked was Craps but there's one more that we haven't gotten around to yet.

» A section on the main menu may be accessed which gives some pointers on playing the various casino games.
