NCS Product Synopsis
Update: August 21, 2003
«©NCSX» Fast-paced aerial combat rejoins the PS2 again with Asmik Ace's latest venture with the Sidewinder franchise. An assemblage of 18 flight combat missions are included in the game which range the gamut from destroying buried mines, missile chasing and destroying, capture of an enemy base, destruction of installations and other fun objectives.
Flight commanders are joined by wingmen who help during missions by strafing ground forces or tackling bogeys. Communications with members of your ground or air teams may be made by way of radio chatter. When in a tough spot, a call for help may be signaled to a friend and a tricky situation will be remedied by a friendly missile or gunfire. Updates from HQ also arrive through radio messages which apprise a squad leader of mission status and any new objectives which may arise during the course of a mission.
New modes to the Sidewinder series include a Beginner Mode where players learn the tricks of the trade and train on various missions before taking on the professionals. A 2-player split-screen mode may be played on a television or two PS2 consoles and two televisions may be linked for dual screen play via the iLink cable.
Special modes includes a Theater Mode where flight missions may be saved to memory card and replayed in cinematic form and a Tamiya Gallery which shows off a large amount of planes from wars past.
Air armor found in the game include the F14D, F15E and F16 Fighting Falcom, F/A18E and F/A22 Raptor, YF23, Mig29, Su27, Su35, S37, S47, EF2000, JAS39, F25, A10, AV8B and F35 Joint Strike Fighter, Tiger helicopter and M1 Abrams tank for ground forces.
Compatible accessories include the Logicool Flight Force controller and Sony's Head Mount Display (both sold separately).
