NCS Product Synopsis
Update: August 3, 2006
«©NCSX» Kasumi Kenshiro is a post-apocalyptic bad ass who struts around in leather duds with chest bared and pectorals rippling. Sharing the doomed world with him are gangs of roaming biker gangs and bandits who prey upon an unprotected populace. To get a little law and order back into the mix, Kenshiro battles thugs with his martial arts skills.

Play pachi-slots on three 3D rendered Hokuto no Ken pachinko machines which are based on Sammy's coin-op designs. The machines are decorated with Hokuto no Ken artwork and marquees with three machine variants as follows: Kenshiro, Rei, and Rin & Bat (aka Lynn and Bat). Other than the design scheme, the machines are identical to each other in terms of play mechanics, the video animation that plays on the monitor above the slots, and the tricks that may be used to beat each one.

For the uninitiated, pachi-slot is slots. Deposit some coin, pull on the plunger, and watch as three spinners decorated with bells, coins, sevens, and other objects rotate rapidly. Stop each spinner by pushing on its corresponding button and attempt to match up symbols for winnings and in the case of Pachislot Hokuto no Ken, some Hokuto Shinken fighting action.

While supplies last, orders for Pachislot Hokuto no Ken will include one of five possible foam coasters decorated with Hokuto no Ken artwork.

NCS Game Notes
» In the intro to the game, an atomic explosion leads to a wrecked world with broken steeled girders, crumbling buildings, and destroyed concrete. The perfect doomsday scenario for a warrior named Kenshiro who punches like thunder and destroys villains and their bosses. Scenes of Ken beating up a big-belly boy is shown followed by scenes of various enemies and bosses gesticulating and looking mean for the camera.

» Press START and the following options appear:
Start Game / Play one of three Hokuto no Ken pachislot machines - Ken, Rei, and Rin
Gallery / View portraits, stats, and 3D models of 15 heroes and enemies in the game. The second section contains cinemas and shorts animated sequences. The third option features all 12 music tracks from the game that may be listened to at your leisure.
Battle Bonus Challenge / Play a boss battle game
Option / Set controller config, toggle Dual Shock vibration
Data / Load and Save data to memory card

» Controls
L2 / Insert credit reserve
R2 / Insert credit for single play/pull
SQUARE / Left stopper
X-BUTTON / Middle stopper
CIRCLE / Right stopper
L-Analog / Push down to pull the plunger and send the slots spinning

» Upon starting a game, a video of Rei and Ken riding in a car is shown where they roll along the desert floor. They eventually meet up with enemies and a battle ensues. To draw the story along however, matches of spinners must be made - make no matches and Rei and Ken just motor along on the desert without getting to punch anyone..

» The sound effects are fairly realistic with thumping noises and a convincing "thunk" sound when pulling a pachi-slot plunger

» A fairly reliable way to get three silver coins to line up in any of the three machines is as follows:

1) Press O-Button and X-Button immediately after each other - also possible to press X-Button followed by O-Button
2) Count to four and then press the SQUARE button

No matter when you press the O-Button followed by the X-Button, there's a high probability that they'll come up as silver coins if pressed in sequence quickly. There was one time out of 60 throws that we got a bell and then a silver coin.

» Every once in a while, Battle Bonuses open up and Ken has to pound out the slots matches in order to attack an opponent skillfully. Falter in the match making and watch Ken fail.
