«©NCSX»The mighty J-Phoenix franchise revisits the PS2 once again with mech fighting action that compares favorably to some of the better 3-D Votoms-ish games. Upon starting the J-Phoenix 2, four modes pop up into view:

Story Mode - Battle through 60 varied missions
Marginal Mode - A survival challenge mode
Survivor Meteor - Matching puzzle game madness
Versus Mode - Bust up a friend or AI in 2-player head to head

Battles takes place on terra as well as the fringes of outer space where weightless robots struggle to keep gatling-gun-fire on dashing bots and oncoming bruisers. To help in the firing game, a handy lock-on mode allows one to put a scope on an enemy and blast off a couple of cheap easy shots.

Somewhat similar to the Armored Core line of games, robot parts may be updates, bolted on and changed to improve attack or evade abilities.

Bonus DVD
Every copy of the first production of J-Phoenix 2 includes a bonus region-2 DVD which contains a 30-minute J-Phoenix animation episode.
