NCS Product Synopsis
Update: March 24, 2006
«©NCSX» Love is in the air when a regular purple-haired high school student in Kamakura is washed from her world into an alternate reality. The game starts off in the back of a classroom where another student and the teacher are the only people present. After the school day is over, the heroine of the game is walking home with a classmate when they meet a strangely garbed shrine maiden with aqua colored hair. The maiden's anxious demeanor seems to portend strange happenings when a massive stream of water washes the heroine into a new world. Upon waking up, she finds herself in the middle of a crusty surface with scant vegetation around.

Soon after getting up, heroine finds that she has been transported to the feudal period of Japans history where the garb is reflective of the era. Heroine teams up with the maiden from earlier and a demure brown-haired gal and the three form a party of women warriors who battle Onimusha-demons and other threats that pop up from the landscape. Battles are fought in simple turn-based encounters where the girls select an attack and are shown rushing forward with weapons blazing.

NCS Game Notes
» Harukanaru JNK3 includes different title screens - one of them pastes the game logo over a building's courtyard while sparkly things loft upwards. The "PRESS START BUTTON" text is colored purple with sparkling pink fringes. An alternate title screen features the logo against a large moon while cherry blossoms waft downwards.

» The Game Previews section from the main menu checks out Neo Angelique where a voice over explains the backdrop of the game and introduces the male characters in the game such as Nyx, J.D., Rayne, and Hyuga. Snippets of game play sequences are also shown accompanied by violin music.

» Upon starting the game, you're encouraged to enter the heroine's name. Her purple-haired portrait may be viewed on the lower-right portion of the screen. After entering your birth date, the game starts inside a classroom.

You're seated towards the back and there's only 1 other student in the room. The teacher appears and a few selection options appear which require your input. Soon afterwards, you're walking home with a blue haired lad while its raining outside. Three fellow student walk towards you and pass by with nary a second glance when a blue haired girl appears. The world shimmers, a harsh wind blows, and waves wash the heroine and fellow students away.

After struggling a little, the visages of various characters appear followed by the aqua haired girl from earlier. Colorful spheres appear and speed into the distance. Heroine wakes up in the middle of a cracked surface and gets up. Her clothing has changed into feudal style and she appears a little dazed. While gathering her senses, three Onimusha demons ramble towards her with red eyes glowing and swords swinging. A killing stroke plunges downwards but the aqua haired girl from earlier parries the blow. While mustering all her strength to contain the attack, the demon lifts his sword and knocks her away while her sword is flung to the side. Purple haired heroine rushes to grab the sword and a battle screen appears where the demon is viewed head-on and it's time to fight.

A new gal appears and is joined by aqua-haired girl and the three are shown on a battlefield where they battle the demons in the distance. Attacks are chosen from a menu system and the three gals are shown leaping forward and smiting the enemies. In the first battle, text boxes appear to explain the fighting system and eventually the demon is defeated with a death groan as it disappears.

» The dialogue in the game is accompanied by spoken speech but the words from the protagonist are not spoken and only appear as text scrawls on the right side of the screen.

» After the two girls explain their predicament and converse a bit, a world map appears which shows the available areas that may be visited. To the immediate south-west of your currently location is a flame icon and if you step onto it, demons appear and another battle is about to be triggered when a green-haired lad with wire-rim glasses jumps in and pushes protagonist away from danger. He soon joins the party and the newly formed party of four battles three Onimusha demons.

The protagonist attacks with a sword
The aqua-haired gal attacks with magical blasts
The green-haired guy shoots from a bow and arrow
The demure brown-haired maiden smacks foes with a fan

» The battle system is very rudimentary and only requires that you select an attack and then a target and the game proceeds accordingly. After each battle, interaction sequences are triggered between fellow comrades and the heroine.

» Depending on how you interact with the green haired guy, a little starry charm will shoot towards his heart and increase his affinity towards you. This happens with the other males in the game as well.

» The game allows 20 save slots for a wide array of saving.
