NCS Product Synopsis Update: February 14, 2004 «©NCSX» To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Famicom console which throned Nintendo as king of video games back in the day, a Famicom GBA SP variant and ten classic Famicom games are re-released for the GBA in the early part of 2004.
Originally released in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System and subtitled "The Hyrule Fantasy," Nintendo introduced the world to the Zelda phenomenon. Link does his thing in the original Zelda which started a powerful franchise in the gaming industry. In the beginning of the game, a poorly drawn Link scrambles around a forest path and may explore a cavern. Once inside, an old codger flanked by bristling fire gives Link a sword which he hefts up proudly once acquired. Link then goes around and slashes at various beasts. If he explores a little more, a vendor inside a cave may be located who sells useful items for Link to use in his travels.
The story in the Legend of Zelda reads like this in the original Japanese game:
"Many years ago Prince Darkness "Gannon" stole one of the Triforce with Power. Princess Zelda had one of the Triforce with Wisdom. She divided it into "8" units to hide it from "Gannon" before she was captured. Go find the "8" units "Link" to save her."
After this proclamation, a large list of objects that may be found in the game are examined in scrolling fashion - there's a ladder, power bracelet, blue ring, magical boomerang, food, rupies, and other needful things.
