NCS Product Synopsis
Update: October 25, 2007
«©NCSX» Developed with the supervision of Bleach creator Noriaki (Tite) Kubo, Bleach: Hanatareshi Yabou is an RPG where Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Uryu Ishida, and other cohorts engage in town exploration as well as Hollow slashing. The game features an original story based within the world of Bleach and the voice actors from the animation provide the spoken dialogue in the adventure. To provide fan service, Sony modeled the combat sequences after the dynamic fighting action in the television show. In addition to solo attacks by the likes of Ichigo and Uryu, two warriors may collaborate to pull off combination attacks to impact massive damage on Hollows. Special individual attacks are also available for a varied repertoire from which the heroes battle their enemies.
The game begins in Ichigo's non-interactive bedroom where he's already dressed in a crisp shirt and slacks. There's a guitar and a skateboard leaning against his bureau but neither may be picked up and used. Exit to the left and rush down the stairs to greet your sisters. Soon afterwards, Rukia manifests herself at the doorway and says, "ohayo gozaimasu" with a curtsy to start the day right. Poppy bursts in on the scene and Ichigo decides to leave for school with Rukia in tow...

NCS Game Notes
* The intro to the game starts with a swirling grey sky above a rocky outpost of some sort while the Bleach theme song plays. Heroes and hollow villains appear in animated cut sequences that are edited for microsecond view bites. Watch as the Shinigami slash, dash, and swing their swords against the Hollows and their commanders.
* In the title screen, a swirling blue sky centered by the hazy sun appears behind an imposing tower while the bright orange Bleach logo appears on the top of the screen.
* The dialogue in the game is accompanied by vocals as played by the actors from the animated series.
* Upon starting the game, the narrated introduction recounts the roles of Ichigo and Rukia in the world. The intro begins with a view of the moon which fills up the entirety of the screen and introduces Rukia and the jobs of Shinigami.
* The title screen selection upon pressing START are NEW GAME / LOAD GAME / SPECIAL. If you click on the SPECIAL option, you'll eventually reach a screen which shows two locked features - Radio Kon and another which shows a microphone lit up by a spotlight on top of a stage. Looks like some sort of emcee gig about to start.
* L-analog controls movement and "O" serves as the action button. To view status, items, accessories and other information, press the TRIANGLE button to bring up a new screen.
* After leaving the house, the camera changes to an overhead view of the neighborhood as the two embark on their adventure. A map on the lower right portion of the screen keeps tabs on your location as represented by a blue arrow. The target is the Yellow Orb. Once you reach the orb, X literally marks the spot and an exorcism of sorts is performed on a shaky individual with an excitable voice actor hamming it up for the producer. Next, run to the second Yellow Orb that appears on the map and you'll find the indomitable KON wriggling against a post and crying a river of tears. Free him and a third member joins your party. After saving Kon, Rukia receives a call on her cellphone and it's about time to go.
* Before leaving, run down to the map (third column and second row from the bottom) and you'll find an individual who needs exorcising. You'll also want to explore each street thoroughly to look for coins on the pavement. Some aren't exactly easy to see but if you scan the area, you'll eventually catch their shiny sparkle.
* At this point in the game, its possible to leave South Karakura by going to the perimeter of the map and exiting (go to the yellow arrows). There's one possible destination - West Karakura. Once there, a red orb is your destination but before you go, explore the town and pick up the sparkling pieces of loose change on the street.
* The polygon depiction of Rukia shows her in a microskirt with black stockings that nearly reach up to her knees and a crisp white shirt.
* Ichigo runs around modern day Japan with a huge sword slung to his back and traditional garb of feudal Japan and yet no one bats an eye...
