«©NCSX» Azumi is based on the manga by Yu Koyama which also inspired a film directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. After the Battle of Sekigahara (October 21, 1600) left many orphans wandering the countryside of Japan, ten youths are spirited to a mountain retreat where they learn the ways of the assassin from a master named Gessai. His aim in teaching the ten charges is to create a strike force of warriors capable of assassinating any would-be megalomaniac who tries to ignite another war. From the original ten, five assassins are culled in a test of loyalty and constancy. Once their training is complete, the five killers are sent on missions to assassinate three warlords.
The first warlord is dispatched but trouble brews during the second attack and the tables are turned when the assassins themselves become the hunted. Take control of one of the assassins named Azumi and cut down all pursuers and remaining warlords in a blood-soaked action game where swords sing through the air and bodies pile up like kindling.
Azumi's attack or sword stroke changes depending on the three possible stances that she adopts and the level of her skill which increases as more enemies are slaughtered. One stance may increase the range of her attack while another allows her to strike at foes with more power.
